the benefit of the Reservation,
With reference to the additional observation to Con-
dition Y a clerical error was made in the remarks that the
walls of the houses proposed to be erected on the Reserved
Area would not exceed 25 feet in height above the ground.
It should have stated that the walle of the houses would
not exceed 25 feet in height from the ground floor, as
provision has to be made to the height of 3 feet from the
ground to the ground floor for ventilation, and I thought
and still think that the Government might properly grant
modification of the provisions of the Public Health and
Building Ordinance regarding the thickness of the walls of
the proposed houses.
I enclose a plan prepared by my Architects showing the
various heights and thicknesses of external walls,
Section A shows a wall 25 feet in height, 14 inches
thick throughout.
Section B shows a wall 40 feet in height, 18 inches
thick for the lowest 15 feet 6 inches, and 14
inches thick for a height of 24 feet 6 inches
above.
Section C shows a wall 55 feet in height, 22 and 18
inches thick for the lowest 27 feet and 14 inches
thick for a height of 28 feet above.
Section D shows the type of wall proposed to be adopted
subject to modifi cation to be granted by the
Government, namely 18 inches for a height of 3
feet and 14 inches for a height of 27 feet 6
inches above.
